
What is windows system restore.
System restore is a roll back program built into you microsoft windows.
The purpose of system restore is mainly to get you out of trouble if something has upset your computer.
System restore does what it says on the tin. It restores you computer back to an earlier time, for example back before the problem occured.
They maybe a number times when you need to use windows system restore.
You may have installed a new piece of computer hardware that has upset your computer settings.
You may have installed a new driver or updated a driver.
you may have installed a new peice of computer software. The list is endless.
Regardles of the reason you can use windows system restore to get you out of a lot of problems.
Ok so how do you use system restore.
First click on the start button at the bottom left of your computer screen.
Then click All Programs
Then highlight Accessories
Then highlight System Tools
Then click on System Restore
As in the screen shot below.

This will open up the system restore program.
By default the radio button (the green dot) should be next to Restore my computer to an earlier time.
Made sure the radio button is next to this then click on the next button
The next page of the system restore looks like a calendar.(see below)
You will notice some of the dates are highlighted blue and stand out like a button.
These are the dates when system restore created a restore point enabling you to restore your computer back to
that time.
If you click on the date on the left hand side you will see on the right hand side of this system restore page any available times to restore your
computer system back to.
It is possible that there is more than one restore point in a day.
If this is the case then highlight the restore point on the right hand side of the page that you want to restore your computer to.
Then click the next button.

On the next page you will be warned to
Backup Your Important Data.
System restore usualy does not destroy any of your data. But there is always a chance something will go wrong.
Plus there is always the threat that system restore is not available to you, in case of a fatal hard drive crash for instance.
The most important thing you can do with you data is BACK IT UP.
