To setup your broadband wireless router to accept a wireless signal you must first have setup the wired connection so
you have access to the internet.
Once you have configured your broadband router now you can go ahead and setup your router for wireless broadband.
Leave the Ethernet wire from your computer connected to the broadband wireless router.
Open up an internet explorer and type in the address bar at the top the address of your router.
You will find the address of your wireless router in your documentation that came with it.
The address of your wireless router will be something like 192.168.1.1
type this into the address bar in your internet explorer with http://
So the full address of your broadband wireless router is http://192.168.1.1
You will now be asked for a user name and password for your wireless broadband router.
As standard most broadband routers use Admin and Admin for both, some broadband routers use Admin for user name and password for the password,
again check with your documentation.
Once you have access to your router you should be looking for either the wireless section or the security section or the WEP section.
As all broadband wireless routers are different only you can decide this.
Once you are into the correct section you are looking to setup your WEP key.
At this stage you will most likely have to activate your WEP key.
The WEP key is a 10 digit code consisting of any of the numbers and A to F
for example 1558a0f6ed
10 digit code if you are using a 64bit WEP key and 26 digit code if you are using a 128bit WEP key.
Some broadband routers automatically insert the WEP key once the WEP has been activated, others need you to insert the WEB key manualy.
Which ever broadband router you have once the WEP key is inserted you will possibley have to save and reboot the router.
Now you have activated your broadband wireless router you need to connect to it.
If you are using windows XP make sure all your settings are correct by following the other tutorials in this section.
Once all the setting are correct all you need do is right click your wireless icon in your taskbar bottom right
of your computer screen next to the clock.
Your wireless icon looks like a screen with 3 green semi circles next to it.
Once you right click this icon you will chose view available wireless networks from the menu.
You should now see your wireless broadband router in the list. You may see other routers in this list also.
Highlight your wireless broadband router and click the connect button at the bottom.
You will now have a screen where you have to put in your WEP key Once you have typed in your WEP key twice your computer
should get and address from your router and give you access to the internet.
You may have to reboot your computer.
Thats how you setup you wireless broadband router.
