How to Configure LAN (local area network) Settings.

Configuring your computer LAN (local area network) setting is very easy.
Providing your computer is not on a network that needs a static IP address use the following tutorial to configure you LAN settings.

Configure LAN (local area network) to receive an IP address automatically.

Click on your start button, bottom left of your computer screen.
Click on Control panel.
If your control panel is in Category view then switch it to classic view by clicking on switch to classic view top left of the screen.

Next double click the network connections icon.
You should now see your LAN (local area network) icon as below.

Next right click the LAN (local area network) icon and click on properties at the bottom of the drop down window.

Next highlight internet protocol (TCP/IP) by clicking on it and click the properties button.

In the internet protocol (TCP/IP) properties window make sure that the radio button is checked for obtain an IP address automatically
and do the same for obtain DNS server address automitically.

Now click the OK button can close all these windows.
