How do i run DISK DEFRAG or defragmentation to speed up my computer

The Disk Defrag program or Disk Defragmentation as it is otherwise known is automaticaly installed with microsoft windows. This program is designed to tidy up your hard drive by moving all the relevent files next to each other.
By doing this the hard drive does not have to work so hard to find the files it needs because the disk defrag program has placed them all next to each other.
Think of it as putting the pages of a book back in order ie: page 1 then page 2 etc.

Click on the start button.
Click on My Computer.
Next Right click you local disk. if you have more than one hard drive in you computer you need to right click the one with windows installed on it.

Next click Properties at the bottom of the dropdown menu.

Next click on the tools tab at the top of the hard drive prorerties window.

Next click on the Defragment Now Button of the hard drive prorerties window.

At the top of the next screen highlight the drive which you would like to defragment. If you only have one hard drive in your computer then click on that drive to highlight it.

The defragment program will now defrag your computer.
You can keep using your computer while the defrag program is running.
You may find your computer is running a bit slower than normal if you do use it while the defrag program is running.
